The AEW women's division wasn't booked well last night - and the problems start with the champion.
Thunder Rosa got a nice home-state pop for an intended promo with Tony Schiavone. She was interrupted by Vickie Guerrero's tired "EXCUSE ME!" schtick, a strange rant about fake green cards, and Nyla Rose trucking her, seemingly setting the former champion up for a title shot.
Short, unsubstantial, and played out, it was the kind of setup we've seen dozens of times before with the Women's World Title. Nyla is a frequent fill-in challenger to boost credibility and get a reign going. That's fine, theoretically, but like Lance Archer, she has been used in this exact same role so many times that it's impossible to take her seriously as a challenger. Thunder Rosa is going over, 100%, so how do you invest?
Coupled with its lazy construction, this made the segment a flop. Both women rule. They deserve more than this.
