5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 5 - Results & Review)

4. Improving All The Time

Anna Jay
AEW

Big hand for one Anna Jay, because she has improved a ton over the past 12-18 months. Friday's episode saw another top showing from someone who's proper putting the effort in to have better matches. This was an improvement over the bout these women had back in August 2023 on Dynamite.

That's saying something considering their prior clash wasn't exactly awful.

Yes, Anna's "stagnant" line before the match was odd, and the definite botch on a near fall was booed hard by fans, but the match was solid overall and Jay played a big part in that. If anything, she's showing the kind of personality during matches that Hikaru should be. Shida is painfully dull as a TV character.

2024 could be a breakout year for Jay if she's able to keep this kind of performance level going. It's important that Tony Khan rewards the women he already has instead of signing more to the roster just for the sake of it. The boss is defo guilty of bulk buying.
