5 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (24 June)
Deonna makes a statement, Raju and Shera prevail, Something destroys Beale.
Perhaps it's because we're on the road to Slammiversary and your writer has such high expectations for the next few weeks, but this week's IMPACT episode was a bit of a letdown.
Nothing major was terrible so to speak, but certain story arcs didn't quite advance as they should have. The night's opening contest, Rosemary vs. Kiera Hogan, was intended to build hype for the impending title clash between Fire N Flava, and Rosemary and Havok. Yet, the match lacked any real intensity and flavour. The same applies to Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering's humdrum story that just won't end. Jazz intervening still couldn't bring any life to the arc.
Where the night lacked in story development was made up for in-ring. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Susan was a surprisingly decent affair. Deonna made a statement out of her former pal to the point she was picking Susan's shoulders off the mat rather than pinning her. Jake Something, Shera, and Joe Doering all having good outings made it a stellar night for big beefy men.
It was fine, and the Ups to Downs ratio indicates as such. The road to Slammiversary can't be fine, though; it needs to have some bling to it. A change is needed come next week.
Let's get to it...
