5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (4 Dec - Results & Review)

Ups…

5. Hyping Jey

One thing WWE generally excels at is putting together great video packages, particularly ones summing up feuds or remembering retired or deceased superstars.

But a hype video tracing a wrestler’s character through his career just to build up to a single match later that evening? That’s a pretty tall order, and yet they hit it out of the park with the video Monday night for Jey Uso.

The video traced Uso’s career, mostly in reverse, as he talked about Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso’s betrayal, Cody Rhodes giving him a second chance, and then peeling all the way back through his career, with clips of him and Jimmy doing their war dance, wearing face paint, and wrestling in FCW.

All of that served the purpose of pointing out that before all of that, it was just him, and now it’s just him again. Jey called out Seth Rollins for their World title match, using the kind of sports hype language that fans can rally behind: he’s starving and ready to eat, and he’s out to prove to Seth, to the Bloodline and to himself why he’s called Main Event Jey Uso.

Great little video that made the title match feel even bigger, and it helped Jey stand on his own two feet a little better.
