At first glance, this wasn't one of SmackDown's banner moments. It isn't the sort of thing WWE will mention in recaps on their official website, nor is it something the announcers will draw attention to. No, they'll let pictures do the talking, and the one above should scream a million words. Picture it in 18ft glowing letters on the marquee: "CODY RHODES VS. RANDY ORTON FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP! COMING SOON!".

Cody and Randy were getting warmed up for their main event tag when Rhodes asked Orton to keep a piece of Kevin Owens for him after Crown Jewel. Smirking and giving out some banter, Mr. RKO said he couldn't promise that. Rhodes replied: "Well, then I'm not sure what I'm gonna do". That's when Orton glanced over at the belt and said: 'I'm sure you'll think of something, man".

Smell the brewing drama! Cody didn't see that happen, which was deliberate. WWE's writers have done a neat and tidy job of dropping these hints since Rhodes won the belt from Roman Reigns back at 'Mania 40. Sure, everyone knew an old school Legacy implosion was coming at some point - they just didn't know when. All of this is building anticipation for a massive title showdown, and they could spin this out until 'Mania season if necessary.

Randy looks at the WWE Title like something he was never supposed to hold again. It's like forbidden fruit for an older veteran who knows chances at the top will get even more limited as time sprints past. We're all in for some ride when Trips finally pulls the trigger on this.
