5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (April 16)

1. Pat McAfee’s Commentary

Yes, Pat McAfee gets the number one 'Up'.

Commentary isn't easy, especially when the windows to get info across are as tight as they are in WWE, but Pat nailed it on Friday night. He was a snug fit next to Michael Cole, provided enough colour to offset Cole's strait-laced style and was a pleasure to listen to.

It's early days, but McAfee is actually a more entertaining partner for Cole than Corey Graves was. Anyone who reads this article regularly will know how high this writer is on Corey's blend of smart-assed heel defensiveness and Bobby Heenan-ish silliness, so that's meant as a compliment. Pat might have Corey licked.

McAfee even found the time to add insight from his NFL days when Sami Zayn punted Kevin Owens ("he should've followed through!"). Another joke, about WWE potentially adding timeouts so heels can take a breather, was one of his better lines too.

Well played, sir.
