WWE WrestleMania 41 Night 1 Pat McAfee
WWE

Regular readers of the Raw Ups & Downs column know that Pat McAfee does not rate very highly with his antics. So, it should not be a shock to find that his shtick did not go over well at Money in the Bank on Saturday.

McAfee has become the main roster designee to carry on Booker T’s horny announcer dude routine when Stephanie Vaquer hits the Devil’s Kiss, and he has managed to turn the obnoxiousness up to 11. He also continues to “wooo!” over Lyra Valkyria’s entrance.

But perhaps the easiest thing to point to was the other color commentator for Saturday’s PLE: Wade Barrett. Listening to the gulf in the quality of each man’s contributions made it clear that McAfee is a name, a fan with a megaphone via his show. If not for that, he would not be sitting at that desk.

That’s not to say that McAfee never adds anything, but nixing Corey Graves and sending him to be third banana in NXT is a significant drop-off with very, very little in return. Barrett being there as a direct comparison makes it even clearer how little he adds to the product above any other middling commentator.
