5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 3)
Ups...
5. Maybe The Start Of Something?
OK, so Shayna Baszler lost to Sasha Banks here, but that won't be a problem if WWE gets the ball rolling on a long-awaited lone wolf character for the 'Queen Of Spades'. She's been stuck with crummy tag partners for far too long. It's time to let Shayna fly solo and show her skills again.
The match was decent too, and Banks is a big enough star that her win didn't feel like a waste of Baszler. Also, WWE's pre-match vignette was akin to pressing the reset button on Shayna - they better follow this up with something meaningful next week. It's vital that the next babyface champion has some solid contenders.
Baszler would be phenomenal as a straight-up heel challenger.
Yours truly is choosing to look on the bright side of this defeat. He liked the hype video and the fact that Shayna locked on a submission early. Plus, it was fun to see Baszler without someone like Nia Jax, Sonya Deville or Natalya for once.
