5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 (Results & Review)

Ups…

5. A Solid World Title Match

WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2024 Gunther Damian Priest
WWE

Taking the build and feud out of the mix and focusing on the match itself, Damian Priest versus Gunther was a pretty good World Heavyweight Championship.

The outcome of their Survivor Series clash was never really in doubt, but the story of the match was a solid one: Priest sustained an injured shoulder early on, and the Ring General pounced on it like a shark smelling blood. Damian kept fighting through the injury to stay in the match, but Gunther kept on him, putting him down with a powerbomb and continuing to chop him while working the arm and shoulder.

The injury proved to be too much for Priest to gain an upper hand, and Finn Balor’s interference was another strike against the former world champion. While this was probably Damian’s last dabbling in a world title feud for a while, he acquitted himself well in defeat, while Gunther had another workman-like title defense.

This won’t make anyone’s “best of” list for the year, but that wasn’t the goal with this match.
