5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Clash Of Champions 2020

4. ‘Card Subject To Change’

Living in 2020 means that just about anything can be thrown off during the global pandemic. And Sunday, we saw that firsthand when two title matches were scrapped.

Nikki Cross was set to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, but she was “not medically cleared” to wrestle, so the match was ditched, with Bayley instead issuing an open challenge that Asuka answered, only for the Role Model to get DQ’d after a couple of minutes.

Another match that was nixed was the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship bout between champs Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler and the Riott Squad. It wasn’t made clear whether this was a positive test result or something else, nor was it clear who was unavailable or for how long.

If there were positive test results, that could have ramifications throughout Raw and SmackDown if others were exposed. Imagine trying to fill three hours on Monday if more wrestlers are forced to miss time. It’s just a product of the times we’re living in, and for WWE, it’s that much tougher when you’re talking about live TV.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for everyone.
