2. IC Title Scene Weaves Together
Poor Sami Zayn had a rough couple weeks as Intercontinental Champion, first being attacked in his hometown by Chad Gable, then suffering a Bronson Reed assault backstage last week.
Monday night, Zayn exacted a measure of revenge by hitting a surprise Helluva Kick on Gable backstage. The good vibes didn’t last though, as he struggled in his IC title defense against Reed, who dominated large portions of their match. It was a desperation Helluva that gave him daylight, only for Gable to attack him for the DQ.
To tie these stories together, Reed caught Gable celebrating with the Intercontinental Championship – after interfering in his title match – and laid the Olympian out with a Death Valley Driver.
In one night, Reed finally looked like a threat, Sami fired back against Gable, and Chad continued his quest to upend Zayn’s title reign. And now, all three are tied together. Triple threat title matches are iffy at best, but if three men are capable of pulling it off, this might be a safe bet.
