Rowdy Roddy Piper didn't love looking at the lights during his career, choosing a no-jobs policy as his own protectorate from the industry's politics. It unfortunately got in the way of him having the litany of classics he was perhaps capable of - at least he saved this stone cold classic for the 'Grandest Stage'.

Promoted almost as a battle between brothers, a pre-match promo dealt with Piper's closeness to the Hart Family that then fed into the match itself as the 'Hot Scot' tried - and ultimately failed - to match the technical skill of the 'Excellence Of Execution'.

With Hart bludgeoned and the referee down, Piper stood atop the Challenger with the ring bell ready to let in the worst version of himself out to retain his first and only singles title. Hesitation cost him as the 'Hitman' pushed out of his sleeper to claim the prize but Roddy had lost with honour rather than winning with none.
