5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (July 5)

Ups…

5. Give Them 20 Minutes And Stakes

It’s tempting to give negative marks to this week’s Ricochet/John Morrison match only because you realize that they’re only getting camera time to hype the Money in the Bank ladder match, and they’ll probably go right back to doing nothing in a couple of weeks.

If only they were fighting over or for the United States Championship or something like that…

But either way, Monday’s match was another solid, enjoyable contest between the two, with both men getting aggressive and laying in the blows. Whereas last week’s bout saw both men counted out, this time Morrison beat the count, and Ricochet found his path back to the ring blocked by Miz, giving JoMo the count-out win.

With the low bar of Raw barely having to produce a competent segment to earn an “up” these days, this will pass that test. In normal/better times, this would simply register as being there and being inoffensive.
