5 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (March 1)

6. Way To Build Contenders

Let’s start by noting that Naomi is the longest-tenured woman on the Raw roster, and an extremely athletic and able performer.

Then add in that Naomi is the experienced veteran and former women’s champion on a tag team with perennial underachiever Lana, and that team is the #1 contender for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. So what do you think should have happened when Naomi faced Nia Jax on Monday night?

If you said, “Nia squashes Naomi in 2 minutes,” then you can be a writer for Raw. We got an awful match with Naomi flailing away at Jax helplessly before being snuffed out with a chokebomb. This all came after the announcers talked up Naomi and Lana as “a great tag team” of longtime friends.

Yep, way to build up your top contenders for the tag titles. It’s not like we were already buying them as anything more than thrown-together placeholders.
