5 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Feb 7)
2. Tag Team Trouble
After a six-team fracas last week, a tag team turmoil bout was booked for Elimination Chamber which will see American Alpha defend the Smackdown Tag Team Championships against Heath Slater and Rhyno, The Ascension, The Vaudevillains, The Usos, and Breezango. This week, all six teams were in twelve-man tag action.
This felt like a recipe for disaster, especially since Breezango ended up on the babyface side, but they actually gave the match some time and let it develop into something good. Perhaps even more importantly, they made each team look like an actual threat and didn't use the bout to establish anyone as a joke.
The finish came when Rhyno was in the ring with Viktor. Rhyno called for the Gore, but The Ascension managed to avoid it and put their opponent down for three, giving them their first win in who knows how long. As far as bouts designed to sell other matches with stupid stipulations go, this was quite good.
