5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Dec 3)

5. R-Truth Comedy Is Quirky But Works
Traditionally, WWE comedy can cause fans to roll their eyes more than laugh. Vince McMahon's idea for giggles is to be as hammy as possible. More often than not, it fails to hit its intended target. That hasn't been the case with R-Truth recently. Before Survivor Series, Truth was hilarious as he told everyone he would become WWE Champion at the Pay-Per-View. The Miz then reminded the man that he wasn't even in contention, and laughs were had at Truth's reaction. Something similar happened on Smackdown. The Dudley Boyz and Tommy Dreamer were in the ring, waiting for D-Von's singles bout against Bray Wyatt. The familiar Wyatt Family insert played, signalling their arrival. When the cameras cut to the stage, R-Truth was standing there instead, and he looked utterly bemused as to how he had even got there in the first place. Flashing and a smile and a wave to the live crowd, R-Truth was gone in rapid fashion. This was an unexpected moment, but it played to the dimness of Truth's character. It also came out of nowhere, which can usually be considered a plus. This was an inoffensive little segment, one which didn't take much TV time and raised a chuckle.
