5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jan 14)
2. Sheamus Has Been Reduced To Being A Bit-Part Player
The fact that Sheamus is out of focus compared to Kevin Owens in the picture accompanying this entry is not coincidental. It seems like a long time ago that the man was crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Survivor Series, but that particular incident only took place less than 2 months ago. Given the way the Irishman is being booked now, it may as well be 2 years. As WWE Champion, Sheamus was portrayed as the leader of the League Of Nations. Fast forward to nowadays, and simply exists as just another upper card heel on the roster. This is representative of bad WWE booking, they decided to hot shot the belt onto Sheamus seemingly just to rid him of his 'Money In The Bank' briefcase. Then, mere weeks later, he dropped it to Roman Reigns. On Smackdown, Sheamus seemed to have more beef with Dean Ambrose than anyone else, joining Kevin Owens in facing Ambrose and Neville in the main event tag-team match. The 'Celtic Warrior' is still being featured, but it's coming across loud and clear that he's taken a few steps down the ladder over the past few weeks.
