5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jan 14)

Ups...

5. Forgotten Talent Get Some Time

Zack Ryder, Goldust, Damien Sandow, Jack Swagger, Heath Slater, Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas and Adam Rose. All of those names exist on the periphery of the WWE landscape more often than not, but all featured in a match on the latest edition of Smackdown. Admittedly, they were only handed around 3 minutes to work with, but it was still nice to see these men handed some television time. The 'Social Outcasts' faction may be a modern-day 'J.O.B Squad', but what else was there for the likes of Slater, Axel, Dallas and Rose? None of those guys were making any headway as singles stars, so it's at least novel of the writing team to band them together as a disgruntled group of under-used talents. The experiment is unlikely to last, but at least they snared some TV minutes. After their win, the Outcasts celebrated as if they'd achieved something grand. Going forward, the opportunity exists to try and position combinations of the men involved in this match against one another. This would provide easy matches for WWE, with the added advantage of keeping them on television. That can't be considered a bad thing.
