5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 14)

4. Logical Ending To The Club vs. Enzo & Big Cass

AJ Styles Enzo Amore

Coming out of the big brawl on Raw, AJ Styles teamed with Luke Gallows to take on Enzo Amore and Big Cass on SmackDown. This felt refreshing, because it would have been too predictable to book a rematch involving Karl Anderson teaming with Gallows against the spitfire babyface team.

Styles continues to prove week in and week out that he's one of the best performers in WWE this year. He's been a tremendous signing, the kind of veteran who can work well with anybody. During this tag-team bout, WWE got everything right, the pacing and overall booking seemed to be spot on.

Enzo was given some nice hope spots, looking for that big hot tag to Cass. Snuffing this out, The Club ganged up on the big man, enabling AJ to lock in the Calf Killer on Amore for the win. Now, the heels look dominant and the babyfaces will look to rally before Battleground. Simple storytelling can be very effective.
