WWE have let Alberto Del Rio down several times since his return in October, 2015. Firstly, his union with Zeb Colter was a complete flop. Secondly, his run in the League Of Nations didn't really go anywhere. At the moment, he's simply a fine in-ring performer who is lost in the mid card shuffle.

If nothing else, that left Del Rio with something to prove on SmackDown. Knowing he was doing the honours for Cesaro, the Mexican had to take something from the opening match on the show. Thankfully, Alberto entered a slick performance, and even looked like he was fired up for the bout.

That only helped matters, because Cesaro was able to play off of Del Rio's fiery nature. Starting the actual wrestling on SmackDown with this one was shrewd, because whereas Alberto came out on the losing end, he didn't look overwhelmed by his foe. At the same time, the 'Swiss Superman' picked up a much-needed win.
