5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE TLC 2016
5. TLC Or IYH?
This is not an argument for meaningless matches to pad out running time, but TLC featured just six matches Sunday night: four title bouts and two singles grudge matches. That’s not a modern PPV; that’s an old In Your House show.
It’s tough to sit here and call for more content for a PPV when you’re paying the same rate for the WWE Network for the entire month, and there’s another special event in two weeks. TLC was just two weeks after Survivor Series, which both explains the problem and highlights the need to change the system.
If you have a roster deep enough to have a throwaway 10-man tag match on the kickoff show and still not use guys like the Usos and Kane, but you can’t find a way to flesh out a full PPV, then you have a problem.
Not every brand-specific PPV has to be three hours (or even 2-1/2 hours), but maybe this is more an argument to not have monthly brand PPVs and allow feuds and rivalries to have more time to simmer and develop.
