5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE TLC 2016

4. Table For One

Watching Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss spend half the match setting up and avoiding being put through a table reinforced a thought about that type of match: Why do tables matches always end as soon as someone is put through a table?

Yes, those types of matches allow someone to win a big match without pinning someone (think Sheamus’ first world title win by knocking John Cena off the turnbuckle through a table), so there’s the “accidental” element. But it also becomes a game of “How can we make false attempts to put someone through a table for 10 minutes seem interesting?”

Chairs matches don’t end when someone uses one. Ladder matches don’t end when a wrestler smacks another with one. Sunday’s table match just felt like it was building to nothing, with Alexa’s powerbomb of Becky through the table just happening suddenly and ending the match.

Call it a personal gripe, but the tables match felt stunted.
