5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 20th)

4. New Day Snapping

As horrendous as the entire New Day gimmick has been, the slow burn of the group as it turns heel is being done fairly well. Taking their cue from the silence they are greeted with and the €œNew Day sucks€ chants that accompany their rhythmic clapping, the trio have been showing more of a heelish side in recent weeks rather than doing an outright turn. Monday, Big E and Kofi Kingston showed a more aggressive side in the ring as the team fought fan favorites the Lucha Dragons. (Quick aside: Whoever came up with the idea of having the Dragons face New Day deserves kudos, as the Dragons have a very easy €œLucha, Lucha€ chant fans love to do to contrast with €œNew Day sucks.€) Having Xavier Woods hide under the ring to prevent Sin Cara from re-entering the ring €“ and thus securing a WWE Tag Team Championship match at Extreme Rules €“ was the perfect kind of slow turn cheating. Woods didn€™t take a cheap shot on the outside, he just waited until the right moment at the end to prevent the other team from winning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ueb3dvOYec This also creates an interesting dynamic at Extreme Rules, with Cesaro and Tyson Kidd as heel tag champs going against the heelish New Day. Will Kidd and Cesaro be de-facto faces?
