5 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Backlash 2020

You have a new Raw Women’s Champion in Asuka, who for the most part has handled Nia Jax in the lead-up to their PPV match, save for the go-home episode. So of course in pitting the champ against human slug Nia Jax, you book a double count-out. Because we need more Nia.

Asuka made the match itself watchable, flying at Jax with everything in her arsenal and countering a lot of Nia’s offense with kicks, submission holds and other strikes. Jax, meanwhile, hit a few big-impact moves of her own, but couldn’t keep Asuka down. The two brawled on the floor, but Asuka couldn’t beat the count back in, leading to an unsatisfactory finish.

Likely, this means we’ll be getting a rematch at Extreme Rules, which is not exactly something the world is clamoring for right now, but perhaps Asuka can work a miracle. Regardless, this was a disappointing finish to a match that should have at least had something better than that ending.
