5 Ways IMPACT Wrestling Is Outclassing The Competition Right Now

4. Gimmick Matches Aren't Needed

It's simple; IMPACT Wrestling don't need gimmick matches, let alone gimmick pay-per-views.

Every year, WWE "treats" us to events such as Hell In A Cell, Elimination Chamber, and Extreme Rules, meaning you have to wait until such an event to see those titular matches. It works for the Royal Rumble and Money In The Bank because, naturally, there's actually an incentive to watch those pay-per-views. The Royal Rumble winner, for example, essentially becomes a face of the company for a while.

Let's reflect on IMPACT's use of gimmick matches throughout 2021 thus far:-

Sami Callihan's Barbed Wire Massacre and Last Man Standing bouts vs. Eddie Edwards and Trey Miguel, respectively, were required to bring an end to those two immensely personal story arcs.

Jake Something's tables matches against both Deaner and Rohit Raju merely acted as a way to conclude those minor stories because neither of them were important enough to warrant a tougher stipulation.

Willie Mack and W. Morrissey's recent no disqualifications match, much like Fire N Flava, and Havok and Nevaeh's tornado tag team match at No Surrender, needed an extra bit of spice because the level had gotten to such a stage that these stipulations were entirely needed.

Was there a need for Bobby Lashley and Xavier Woods' Hell In A Cell match the night after the namesake pay-per-view? No. The same goes for Darby Allin vs. Matt Hardy from the 14 April Dynamite. Why was it falls count anywhere?
