3. Lifting The Intercontinental Title
Somewhere along the PG era, the Intercontinental title lost its jist. Before that, being the Intercontinental champion meant something. The strap was usually reserved for those meant to become stars. It was the pathway to the WWE championship. Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Triple H, The Rock, and even Chyna, have all catapulted their careers off runs as Intercontinental champions. Now, reintroduced with an old-school, attention-grabbing white strap, the title has been thrown into the backyards of B and C list superstars to grapple for and kick around. The best decision in recent history has been to put the strap on what was hot: Kevin Owens. This decision reestablished the career-progression-plateau element, having seen him capture WWE gold following his reign as champion of the minor leagues in NXT. A key ingredient to title prestige is longevity, a formula WWE has been inching back towards in the modern day. Kurt Angle bursting back onto the WWE scene to be the bully we all love to see, and attempt to give the kid a run for his money equals an epic series of match-ups to further establish Owens as a future star, and to bring the title prominence once again. Kurt Angle in the intercontinental title picture would replicate what John Cena has done for the U.S. title. Its time for the Intercontinental championship to serve its purpose again; catapulting careers.
