Vinny Magalhães infamously stated that if he lost to Anthony Perosh in their fight at UFC 163, he should be cut from the UFC, and that were he cut from the UFC, he'd retire. Then he went and lost. Uh-oh. He was done in the UFC at that point - they did in fact cut him - but he has kept going in his MMA career despite the retirement statement. He's 2-0 since his UFC release, and he's a guy who has trained all over the place - Xtreme Couture, Quest MMA, Syndicate MMA, and there, with CM Punk. Despite Magalhães' rather foolish statements in the Perosh case, he is a top level Jiu-jitsu fighter, and if that's the sort of guys Punk is rolling with, he's in good company.
