5 Wrestlers Who Will Get Over In AEW (And 5 Who Won't)

2. Kenny Omega WILL...

Incredibly, some toxic pockets of Twitter don't think Kenny Omega can get over in AEW.

To clarify, they are referring to his ability to connect with a casual/new crowd. A lot of this stems from total Dave Meltzer Derangement Syndrome, and more recently, Omega's work on Being The Elite warmed the cockles of his haters, who thought it far too weird and affected and pretentious to get over on television.

It was a stupid, stupid take to begin with, at least to anybody with any common sense about them: Omega was never going to play an out-of-it cokehead on TNT, and funnily enough, he isn't: he's playing an absent-minded great in danger of losing his status, allies, everything. This has manifested not with sniffing and a demented comedy troll accent, but lapses in concentration and a faked level of confidence within the context of his wrestling persona, not his Being The Elite spinoff.

This should have been evident before Dynamite. When he needed to be - when there was a crucial pay-per-view in need of saving - Omega played it seriously (and magnificently) on the episode of BTE that dropped after Jon Moxley's elbow injury.

Omega played with the hard cam in a stupendous, clever way within minutes of appearing on TV. He is going to excel in this environment, just as he excels in all others.
