5 Wrestling Dream Matches That Make Perfect Sense (And 5 That Don't)

8. DO - Jon Moxley Vs Tomohiro Ishii

The Fiend Doink
AEW/ROH

It was f*cking fantastic the first time, so let's have another.

Jon Moxley's lightning-in-a-bottle G1 Climax 2019 run was the sort of stuff wrestling fan dreams are made of. A much-hyped WWE exit saw him touted as a dangerous and exhilarating new threat in NJPW whilst also immediately inserting himself as a main event concern in AEW.

He had the wrestling world around his little finger, but tightened the grip in a series of jaw dropping encounters that seemed determined to bury any lingering longing for Dean Ambrose to ever return. His battle with Tomohiro Ishii was the pick of the bunch, capturing the tone of violence from the off and developing in to fight so incredibly end-of-the-world feeling that it was as if the venue was collapsing around them.

There are lots of reasons for AEW and NJPW to make nice and work together, but getting to run this back is near the top of that list.
