5 Wrestling Matches Nobody Wanted (But Now Anticipate Massively)
4. The Broken Hardys Vs. Anyone
When Matt Hardy degenerated into the 'Broken Matt' character in TNA, the wrestling world was left gobsmacked at the eccentricity of Hardy's latest metamorphosis. As far as new character directions go, this was a left turn so sharp that it almost put his career into a tailspin.
Nevertheless, Hardy steered the course and, despite initial negativity, the backlash soon turned into praise. So much so, that it ultimately led to an entire episode of Impact being filmed at the Hardy Compound and the show itself was even renamed to Total Non-Stop Deletion for one week only.
The stylistic conventions of the 'Broken' battles and the quirky manner of the production was even mimicked by the WWE during The New Day's battle with the Wyatt Family at the "Wyatt Family Compound". If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then this was validation of a job well done for the Hardys.
Rechristened as 'The Broken Hardys', Broken Matt and Brother Nero left TNA at the height of the gimmick and their debut at WrestleMania was met with open arms. Sadly for the WWE Universe, the Hardys didn't bring the 'Broken Universe' with them as the trademarks currently belong to Anthem Sports.
When the 'Broken Hardys' do eventually awaken in WWE, it's going to be epic. Let's hope Senor Benjamin is around to prepare the battlefield for massacre...
