5 Wrestling Ring Rope Wreckages

2. Will Ospreay Vs. Ricochet - WCPW True Destiny

At last night's WCPW True Destiny pay-per-view, Will Ospreay and Ricochet resumed hostilities in their thrilling, divisive and controversial series. It didn't quite go according to plan.

Minutes into the match, the two storyline doppelgängers performed their customary mirror image, athletic exchanges, duelling for elusive supremacy - you know, the very essence of the story they are apparently unable to tell - when the lightning-quick Ospreay finally achieved warp speed. He flipped (what else) into the ropes, sending the top one flying.

Somewhere, Vader was laughing his a** off. That's not strictly true - he'll wait until he sees a twenty second-long context-free GIF on Twitter to make his mind up about a twenty minute match - but if he was watching, the smile would have soon been removed from his face. Stood on a flat surface no longer confined by barriers, a cynic might have expected the two supposed gymnasts to engage in a spot of tumbling - but they instead crafted, with some ingenuity, an absorbing match - one so good that it made the crowd forget that there wasn't even a top rope. The two men are so agile that their work never once looked contrived.

Mercifully, the ring withstood the rest of the night's incredible action, which, while we're here, you can see for yourself by subscribing to WhatCulture Extra.
