'The Princess of Staten Island' Carmella won the inaugural women's Money in the Bank ladder match in 2017, which was also her first match at the event. Twelve months later, she retained her SmackDown Women's Championship with a victory against Asuka. After picking up two significant wins at this pay-per-view, she lost her first bout last year when Bayley emerged victorious in the multi-woman fight.

'The Moonwalking Trash-talking Chick' missed WrestleMania 36, but when she came back, the creative team included her in the women's tag team title picture along with Dana Brooke. Even though the duo could not grab the championships, they will likely feature in the new format of the ladder match at the WWE Headquarters. Brooke has already qualified for the bout, and 'The Crown Princess of Smackdown' will compete for the final berth against Mandy Rose this Friday.

The fans expect Sonya Deville to interfere in the qualifier and help Carmella progress to the main show. Her win-loss record shows that Vince McMahon prefers to give her an essential place in the post 'Mania season.
