The reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The New Day have a phenomenal record at the Money in the Bank event. Although they lost the tag titles to the Prime Time Players at this show in 2015, they retained the gold in a fatal four-way match against Enzo and Cass, Gallows and Anderson, and The Vaudevillains next year. They featured on the poster of the pay-per-view in 2017, besides beating the Usos by count-out.

Kofi Kingston has represented the faction at this event since 2018. He first headlined the show along with Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman, Bobby Roode, Finn Bálor, Rusev, Samoa Joe, and The Miz before pulling off a successful WWE title defense against 'The Prizefighter' last year.

As they won the tag team crowns on the blue brand recently, the longest reigning tag champs in the organization's history would likely keep hold of the titles if they put them on the line against any team from SmackDown next Sunday.
