Easily one of the most obvious choices, Ken Shamrock is a perfect example of a hybrid fighter/wrestler. Shamrock participated in many MMA fights that were actually works, and pro wrestling matches that were made to look like MMA bouts. Shamrock was instrumental in the early days of the UFC, and served as a major rival to Royce Gracie. Throughout Shamrock's first UFC run, he was 6-2-2, and even captured the UFC Superfight Championship. In 1997, Shamrock made a highly publicized jump to the WWE. Shamrock lasted a couple of years in the WWE, achieving a great degree of success in the company's most successful era. Shamrock captured the WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Titles, as well as winning a King of the Ring tournament in 1998. "The World's Most Dangerous Man" would return to the UFC from 2002 to 2006, but was never the same, going just 1-3. Shamrock was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
