5 That Ruled...

5. Trish Stratus Vs. Victoria

Under the guidance of WWE trainer/road agent Fit Finlay, Trish Stratus began developing into one hell of a worker in the early-to-mid-2000s. Originally brought in to be eye candy and little more, the Toronto native was committed to being taken seriously as an in-ring performer and put in overtime in an effort to improve her skills.

Trish won her first Women's Championship in a six-way match at Survivor Series 2001 and, while it was clear that she was not quite a polished pro at that time, she was showing signs of improvement week in and week out. A lot of that had to do with the fact that she was regularly mixing it up with the likes of Molly Holly and Jazz, who were both competent wrestlers and could lead a match.

Fast forward to the autumn of 2002 and, after almost a year of regular matches, Trish was really coming into her own. The women's division was a bit thin on the ground, though, and she needed a new challenger so WWE called up Victoria (who had last been seen portraying one of The Godfather's hoes) to be her next foil.

Victoria burst onto the scene and attacked Trish Stratus, claiming that she had betrayed her during their time together in the fitness modelling industry. After Trish had bested Victoria at No Mercy to retain her Women's Championship, the two women engaged in some brutal, full-on angles on Raw to build up to their well-executed Hardcore match at Survivor Series, which Victoria won.

From then on the two would clash countless times in singles, tag and mixed-tag scenarios and it was obvious that the two had great chemistry with one another. Their feud was given a bit of a facelift in 2004 when Trish turned heel and Victoria became a babyface, which created a new dynamic and made the old formula feel fresh.
