5 WWE Wrestlers Who SHOULD Have Dethroned Roman Reigns (And 5 Who Still Could)

2. The Rock

Ever since Roman Reigns started clearing out the ranks of main-event superstars and smashing all of them, it opened the question, “Exactly who is left to defeat Roman for the titles?”

All signs for a while pointed to one man who could do it, and would be the biggest money match WWE could produce: The Rock.

But any efforts to make this pipe dream a reality faded away as it became apparent that Rocky’s hectic schedule and the time it would take for a 50-year-old to get in ring shape for that caliber of a match made this more and more unlikely. When Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble, it seemed like a done deal that Rock wasn’t taking the title off Roman.

Fast-forward to post-WrestleMania 39 and it’s once again an open question. Throw in Rock’s video the day of Mania Night 2 where he hinted at a future encounter with his cousin Reigns, and this will continue to be part of the rumor mill.

Of course, there’s the reality of (once again) Rock’s schedule and training, but also the fact that if he were to win the title, he’d likely have to drop it in another match, and he most certainly wouldn’t be around more than Roman is – and he’s not even on TV weekly, much less wrestling monthly.
