50 Best WCW Moments Ever
43. Cactus Jack Goes Splat
Around six months earlier, Foley was putting his body through the mangle as a human punching bag for Big Van Vader. Together, the pair crafted some of WCW's best ever brawls, but it's the 'Texas Death Match' at Halloween Havoc 1993 you should make appointment viewing whilst the WWE Network/Peacock still exists (if Netflix haven't already ported over all the archives by the time you read this!).
Vader loved working with Cactus, because he knew he could be as stiff as he wanted to be without fear of a talking to from management. Foley could take it. In fact, he wanted the punishment to look as convincing as possible, and seemed to get a strange thrill out of taking bumps and bruises few others could stomach.
The Havoc match is almost 16 minutes of Vader throwing bombs and Cactus showing off his unique underdog babyface fire. This marked one of the first times a national audience had seen him do that sort of thing. It'd come in handy around five years later during his WWF run as the childlike Mankind gimmick.
Maybe they should've booked Mick vs. Vader as well!
