50 Best Wrestlers Of The 2020s (So Far)

47. Christian Cage

Christian Cage
AEW

Wrestling moves so fast that it's easy to forget that Christian Cage’s resurgence in the 2020s is as much a story of inspiration as inspired action.

When the decade turned over, he was long-thought retired and part of the rotating-special-guest furniture within WWE. At the halfway point, he's a reborn former AEW TNT Champion that also had another cup of coffee with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and set about claiming the Wayne wrestling family as his own as part of the wonderfully bizarre heel character he adopted along the way.

Christian’s matches during the time have showcased his ability to work with a wide range of opponents and styles to an entire new generation of fans, expanding his role a long way beyond the player-coach position he might have assumed upon signing for the organisation in 2021. His work with and against Jungle Boy was the temporary making of the later, while highlighted just how valuable his mentorship role could be while still contributing as a full-timer.

There may yet be some gooey but earned nostalgia to come as well. As Cage's run appears to be winding down somewhat, there appears to be some space left for him to explore one last run alongside Adam 'Edge' Copeland when his fellow Torontonian returns from injury at some point in 2025. The funnier of the two would be helping both of them, should he be willing to pause for some five second poses at least one more time.
