50 Greatest WWE Raw Moments Ever

Triple H
WWE

It would mark the unofficial start of a real-life relationship that completely transformed a made-up world for better, worse, richer and poorer, but it's hard not to get lost in the dark silliness of Triple H's reveal of his unsolicited marriage to Stephanie McMahon right as the prodigal daughter was about to tie the not with the affable Test in late-1999.

Delayed in real life because Vince Russo left for WCW and took whatever plans he had for a payoff with him, the eventual outcome fell neatly into the lap of 'The Game' in his capacity as the company's great hope as top heel. He'd spent more time than was ideal fumbling around in the dark for something that clicked beyond stealing Shane Douglas' aesthetic and love of a curse word or two, but stealing the boss' daughter in a storyline was without doubt the last missing piece of the puzzle.

Initially appearing drugged before admitting she was more than willing to side with her father's arch-rival, Stephanie McMahon was sock-puppeted by Triple H right through a Las Vegas drive-through allowing 'The Game' to conclude the torrid affair with a legendarily grizzled enunciation about their grisly consummation. A lot of it wouldn't fly beyond the confines of 1999 WWE, but Hunter carried his end of things so spectacularly that few were arguing his new placement even before he became the actual best in the business a few months later.
