50 Greatest WWE Raw Moments Ever

47. The Shield Reunites (October 9th, 2017)

The Shield hadn't even existed five years before they heroically reunited on Raw in 2017. They'd only been formally split for three, and had worked with or against one another constantly in the time since, but WWE had been so devoid of good ideas in the 2010s that the best one of the decade was the only thing they could authentically milk.

It was all so...patient. Seth Rollins was a babyface, but Dean Ambrose took forever to forgive him, because of course he would after all the characters had been through. The two healed old wounds over a gripping summer series against The Bar, but a numbers game revealed itself when the pair became Tag Team Champions - every group wanted a shot. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns found himself facing a similar disadvantage in his programme with The Miztourage. It was made explicitly clear that, despite his recent wars with Braun Strowman, he was fit to beat Miz, Bo Dallas or Curtis Axel one-one-one, but three was constantly too much for one.

In as neat a way as 2017 WWE was able to make these loose ends tie up, the October 2nd edition of Raw ended with Roman dealing with his injuries backstage, only to find himself silently flanked by Ambrose and Rollins - to an enormous pop in the building - as the show went off the air. Seven days later, the show actually stuck the landing. A full week of excitement had every fan attending hoping for confirmation of what they already knew; the very best kind of wrestling suspense.

The deluded heel unit led by Miz flatly and naively refused to believe it was true, setting up a destruction job by the reunited trio. Miz himself ate a Shieldbomb, as - for the first time in over three years - the group ceremonially threw their fists back in the middle.
