While the WrestleMania 4 main event signaled the beginning of a new era, the main event of WrestleMania 5 basically returned to the same well, re-launching Hulkamania at a time when Randy Savage was at the peak of his popularity. The jealous, crazy world champion was a great gimmick, and it could have gone on for several months before Hogan got his comeuppance. Armchair booking aside, Savage and Hogan were the top two stars in the WWF, so pitting them against each other was only natural for the biggest show of the year. You had a top babyface turning heel against his buddy Hulk, and you had the manager for both, the lovely Miss Elizabeth, in a neutral corner. And it was a pretty good match too boot. What else do you need?
