Earlier that year, Tony Schiavone wasn't excitedly hyping up that WWF quality was coming to WCW. He was ripping the p*ss out of their booking instead. Under orders from Eric Bischoff, Schiavone revealed that Mick Foley was set to win the WWF Title on a pre-taped 4 January 1999 Raw.

Then, infamously, Tony said: "Boy, that'll put some butts in seats".

A lorry load of Nitro viewers instantly flipped channels to see Mankind win the big one. WCW attempting to ridicule the WWF backfired in a huge way, and probably left a sour taste in the mouths of those who had previously chuckled when Bisch was giving away Raw results in 1995/1996.

WCW looked edgy back then. By '99, they just looked desperate.
