CJ Parker started off on NXT as a babyface that everyone hated, and how could you not? His entrance was stupid, his dancing was dumb, and his nickname "Moonchild" was lifted straight from the 1970s. Everything about the gimmick was ham-handed, hokey and dated. Add to all that that CJ Parker wasn't that great of a wrestler and his name was taken from a Baywatch character, and it wasn't surprising that people couldn't bring themselves to get behind it. Now that they've turned him heel, and are having him play an annoying, overly judgmental environmentalist, he seems to be in a role better suited for such a hokey character. What he's saying about the world is right, but he's so obnoxious and preachy that you can't wait for him to get his head kicked in. Without Bo Dallas on NXT, CJ Parker might be the brand's most unlikable heel, which is a good thing. The character can only work on NXT unfortunately. Not that the WWE isn't in need of uncool heels (there's an epidemic of heels trying to be cool all over the main roster right now), it's just hard to say that the WWE Universe would react to this CJ Parker character one way or the other. Having him play the part of dickish Lorax, coming to the arena each week and protesting on behalf of the trees works in a smaller environment like NXT, and as we've established, the NXT subsection of the WWE audience is slightly more forgiving of the outside the box ideas than the WWE Universe at large would be. Were he to be called up to the main roster, it is doubtful that he'd receive much of a reaction at all, and would be sent back to NXT to get repackaged.
