6 Reasons Last Night's WWE Raw Made You Change The Channel
3. Divas Championship Becomes Intertwined With Bellas Drama
To this point, WWE has done one thing right when it comes to Total Divas: For the most part, theyve kept the reality show and the Divas Championship separate. Cast members have gotten title shots, but none of them have been successful. AJ Lee and Paige have monopolized the title during the past year, keeping it out of the drama. That is, until Monday night. Stephanie McMahon granted Nikki Bella a title shot, which brought out Brie. Then AJ came out to remind everyone that she still had an automatic rematch (you know, that thing Triple H was trying to take away from Cena), and finally Paige joined the fray. In all of that mess, champ Paige was made to look like an afterthought she was only there because shes holding the title. Meanwhile, AJ was there to further a long-simmering feud with Stephanie where they stare uncomfortably and defiantly at each other. This left the entire segment and title picture hanging out there in a weird limbo. Is AJ versus Paige a dead issue? Is Paige now supposed to be cheered because new heel Nikki Bella is getting a title shot she hasnt earned? Is Brie versus Nikki a match in the making? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEYIHs8j-80 And a word about Stephanie: As great as she has been as a heel the past year, every time she gets involved in a Divas issue, it just drags everything down a notch. Stephanie is light-years beyond most of the Divas roster on the mic, but she also exerts her authority to talk down to the women (witness her confrontation with AJ). Unlike Triple H, who will have a back-and-forth with male superstars, Stephanie rarely shows ass and lets someone like AJ really get her digs in. That makes the entire Divas roster look inferior, which does no one any favors.
