6 Recent Times WWE Taught Us That Friendship Means Nothing
3. The Golden Truth
Aside from the fact that he's wrestling's Benjamin Button, seeming to age in reverse, one of the keys to Goldust's longevity in the WWE is his ability to form off-the-wall tag teams with the unlikeliest of partners. Booker T was the most memorable of all those, and the two men had a chemistry that is rarely hit upon in wrestling.
Since that time, the promotion has been trying to recreate that formula with several other "wacky" partnerships, the latest of which being R-Truth.
The two men formed the team Golden Truth, and R-Truth was Goldie's first real partner since he ceased teaming with his brother Cody. As expected, the two were a hit, and although used sparingly, mainly as enhancement talent for the more high profile teams, there was something charming about their union.
So of course WWE took it all away from us.
For no explanation whatsoever, on a recent episode of Raw Goldust betrayed his partner, turning on him prior to their match against Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. He followed it up with a vignette that seemed to insinuate he'll be returning to the original WWE version of his character, playing a Hollywood-based gimmick.
Because R-Truth portrays the clueless gullible goofball so well, seeing him brutalized by the man he trusted was tragic.
WWE, why do you hate us so much?
