6 Ups & 0 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Mar 14)

3. Pete Dunne, Superstar

He isn't even under full-time contract, but Pete Dunne is one of WWE's most consistent wrestlers. The United Kingdom Champion's matches are never anything less than 'good,' and his quality ceiling is ridiculously high, with Dunne's best work stacking up with anyone else in the company. Everyone he faces gets elevated, no matter who they are, and last night, 'The Bruiserweight' worked a great little UK Title match with the Undisputed Era's Adam Cole.

It wasn't a blow-away clash, but it was comfortably the best bout on the show. Cole himself is a relatively ordinary worker. He's got a great character, and his charisma is palpable, but his ring style is basic. Here, he was performing a notch or two above his usual level, and didn't look like he was lagging at all.

Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish inevitably got involved. First, they tried to distract Dunne, but Pete kicked out of Cole's Last Shot. The champ snapped the fingers and went for the Bitter End afterwards, but the former ReDRagon attacked, prompting the DQ, and eventually, the save from Roderick Strong. This continued last week's 'respect' angle, and we can't wait to see what comes next.
