6 Ups & 0 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Mar 14)

1. LeRae Of Light

Imagine what would happen if a WWE in-ring contract signing passed without incident. The world would likely implode on itself, but while it's easy to be cynical about how predictably these things erupt into violence, last night's was well played.

It started with Aleister Black and Zelina Vega. Andrade Almas wasn't in the building, and this left the NXT Champion's manager to rip into Black on her own, which she duly did. Aleister was all business, predictably. From his seated position, he cut Vega off and ordered her to ink the contract, which only angered Almas' business partner.

This earned Aleister a slap, but if Zelina thought she was going to end this situation in the ascendency, she was sorely wrong. Candice LeRae attacked seconds after being introduced by Black. She battered her rival all over ringside, barely letting Vega get a single lick in, before laying her out with a corner bulldog, then standing tall as the show went off the air.

Candice's appearance took the segment to the next level. Her beatdown was righteous, and she felt every bit like the fiery babyface her husband has become. Having teamed with Gargano to face Almas and Vega on the house show circuit, perhaps this is a match we can soon look forward to on NXT television, though the Tommaso Ciampa situation obviously complicates matters.
