4. A Straight Up Fight

Drew McIntyre Jimmy Uso

When scanning socials for feedback on SmackDown, yours truly spotted a comment that bemoaned the lack of moves or slick sequences during the McIntyre vs. Jimmy Uso main event. Sorry, but that was the point. They were never going to go with fancy headlocks, Canadian Destroyers nobody sells anyway or high-flying. It was a fight, because that's what 'No DQ' stories should be.

The pair brought weapons into it, which they should've considering the stipulation and all of the brawling they'd done around ringside/backstage heading into the match. Later, once he'd shut Uso down for the win, a knackered Drew was visibly relieved the fight was over. That was great. Shattered and thankful he's survived is exactly how somebody who's just been through a physical war should react.

McIntyre was also covered in a bunch of cuts after crashing through a table and taking Jimmy's punishment. Uso might've lost, but he took a pound of his rival's flesh before doing so. That's stellar storytelling.

Jimmy was realistically never beating Drew when the Scot has a WWE Title shot coming up at SNME, but they still gave fans a decent show to cap off the evening. Further, McIntyre dropping Cody with a Claymore Kick will perhaps lead to some Rhodes revenge on next week’s SmackDown before the title bout. If so, then that'll leave the winner hanging in the balance come Salt Lake City.

Here's hoping these guys cracked open a cold beer or 2 and clinked bottles once they got backstage, because they'd deserve to. They gave SmackDown an intense blow off point, and they made McIntyre look like somebody who's capable of eating a lot of punishment without throwing the towel in.
