6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (17 Aug)

5. Shaky Segment Recovers

Christian Cage Jungle Boy
AEW

Jungle Boy was shaky on the microphone last night, drawing the dreaded "what?" chants from the audience as he cut his latest diatribe on Christian Cage. The core message of him being denied the opportunity to get his hands on Cage, again and again, is a good one. Jungle Boy, unfortunately, demonstrated that he still has a long way to go in this aspect of the game, coming off shaky and low on confidence.

But Cage was there to right the segment's course. Christian was great, here, ripping his former charge for being unable to form a sentence and becoming a gigantic hypocrite by claiming Jungle Boy didn't need to make their rivalry personal. Then, sensing the walls closing in, he tried to manipulate Jungle Boy as he had done with Luchasaurus before, promising to take him to the promised land.

Jungle Boy looked a smart babyface by not falling for this nonsense, attacking Cage and battering him around ringside. This culminated in prolonged punishment dished out on the ring steps, with Cage's skull bashing against the steel and his arm destroyed before security could split it up.
