6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (11 May - Results & Review)
2. Cope's Barbed Wire Steel Cage Challenge
Later, Adam Copeland went on to fire out a Barbed Wire Steel Cage challenge to Malakai Black for Double Or Nothing. That, dear readers, is exactly the kind of showcase bout Black has been screaming out for since joining AEW. It could be something special if they're given plenty of time (it's a Copeland match, so that's happening!) on the PPV.
Adam appeared backstage behind a steel fence draped in barbed wire spikes. That made for an impressive visual, but maybe AEW should've gone for red lighting instead of green to sell the idea that blood is incoming. Someone tell Jon Moxley to get the popcorn on. He won't want to miss this!
Good promo from Copeland, as expected. He didn't go full-on Ultimate Warrior in the 80s shouty mode, but did get fired up near the end and had wild eyes throughout. Bonus points go to Adam for choosing to do this behind the scenes the way he did, because the fencing helped sell his menace and desperation.
This announcement would've been lost as part of some 10-15 minute in-ring speech anyway.
